Poem – Beauty

I figured I’d share the poems I wrote during my retreat into the mountains. I’ll post them in order.

It surrounds me.
I don’t want to escape it,
But sometimes,
Too often, I think,
I forget.
The numbing waves of worry and calculation
Cover my soul,
And I forget the sharp,
Blissful ache of beauty.
But occasionally
A lull in the waves
Brings my head above the water,
And I gasp in a breath,
A cutting breath of beauty.
And I remember
That I don’t ever want to forget,
And forget why I ever forgot,
And hope, probably in vain,
But hopefully not,
That I won’t forget again.
