Cyrano De Bergerac

I want to start writing reviews of the movies I watch, and it seems a good idea to start with one I just watched (which, by the way, made it onto my favorites list).

Last night I watched a movie called ‘Cyrano De Bergerac’. It was made in French, so I had to watch it with subtitles. But it was really good. I definately reccoment you watch it. The overall plot was very well written, but that’s because it was based on a bestselling novel. If you haven’t noticed, most good movies come from good books. I don’t know why, but I see few exceptions to this phenomena. The story is about a master poet and swordsman who has impentrable character. But he has a flaw: he has a giant nose. Now I know this sounds funny, but the movie is not a comedy. There were definately some laugh parts, but it was overall serious I think. I don’t want to give away any plot points, but it was a romance. A good romance. So Bergerac falls in love with this woman, but thinks that she’ll scorn him because of his nose.

The fighting was a little humorous to me, especially when people were killed by sword. This was just because it didn’t seem all that realistic to me. There isn’t really much blood or gore, just a few people get run through, and even that isn’t very bad. It was a romance, so there was one ‘kissing’ scene, but happily no clothese were shed. There was basically no foul language.

So I definately reccomend this movie, like I said, it made it onto my favorites list. Which, if you’ve seen it, is not extensive at all. So go get it from the library.
