People always wonder why on earth my blog is called Hostile Legacy. I wrote a post on it a while ago, when I first started out on blogspot. Basically, I said that I have no clue why, it just sounds cool. Well. I suppose I really didn’t have a reason for calling it Hostile Legacy.
You do have to admit though, ‘Hostile Legacy’ flows off the tongue nicely, and it does sound really cool. It might be a bit… well… hostile. I was thinking for a bit that maybe I should change the title… does it really convey the message that I, a follower of the truth, should be advertising? Does it convey the message of love and redemption that I want to carry? Well, I was going to write a post pondering changing the title, but just before I started typing, God gave me a revelation. He seems to be giving me a lot of those lately… but usually they consist of questions.
Something interesting that I’ve noticed is that the more I read my Bible, the more questions I have. And the more I read, the more I question common modern Christian doctrine. The x’s and unknowns keep piling up in my notebook. Ah well. The more you learn, the more you are amazed at how much you don’t know. A fact emphasized very clearly in the Bible. Socrates was also very big on that.
So what sort of a Legacy do I want to leave? Well, that revelation I had before writing this post comes in here. Actually, it wasn’t a revelation in the sense that this is a new idea, but the title of my blog and the idea connected, so in that sense it was a revelation.
I do not want to leave a warm fuzzy feeling behind me. I don’t want people to mourn my death. As a follower of the truth, as a Christian, I’m not living my life to please men. I am living my life to please my father in heaven. Men may curse me on earth, they may put me through trials and tribulations for my faith, but I shall, with the help of the Holy Spirit, stand firm. That, my friends, is why I will have a hostile legacy.
(John 15.19) "If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."
